Offered is a dinner invitation sent by the New York Yankees to former Chicago White Sox hurler Monty Stratton. Dinner was held at Toots Shor's in New York City on the evening of August 25, 1956 with Veteran White Sox & Yankees stars paying tribute to 1956 Hall of Fame inductee Joe Cronin. Stratton had a promising start to his career with 15 win seasons in 1937 & 1938 before having his right leg amputated following an off season hunting accident. Stratton would return to pitch in the minor leagues and had his life story made into a motion picture starring Jimmy Stewart. (79G0154)
