Though they played in the American League and were officially known as the Senators, the Washington baseball club frequently referred to themselves as the "Nationals" given their location in the Nation's capital. Offered here is a prototype jersey which based on the style of Spalding manufacturer's tag sewn in the collar dates to circa 1949-52. "Nationals" is sewn across the front of the size 44 grey flannel zip up jersey in navy on red double felt while number 50 is sewn to the reverse in the same fashion. Jersey remains in excellent overall condition with some light areas of staining. (65S0240)
