This bat dates to the 2004/2007-08 period based on the Louisville Slugger centerbrand period, 2004-08, and the years in which Counsell was a part of the Milwaukee Brewers during that period, 2004 and 2007-08. In all three of those seasons, Counsell wore jersey #30, eliminating the possibility of further dating per that characteristic. This bat exhibits heavy use with the majority of ball marks present along the bottom of the barrel, with ball marks visible on each side of the barrel. Both blue ink transfer marks and white leather casing transfer is visible along the barrel of this bat from hitting the baseball. A 7.5 inch strip along the handle displays a light coating of pine tar. Counsell's jersey number, 30, appears in black marker on the knob of the bat.
Counsell has been an on and off part of the Milwaukee Brewers roster during the 2000's, growing up in the Milwaukee area, Counsell has always been partial to playing for the Brewers. In 2008, he was a crucial utility man for the Brewers filling in the gaps while the Brewers made their rush for the playoffs. In 2009, he has been a very clutch and dependable hitter coming into the month of September with a batting just a bit under .290.
