MEARS has had the pleasure of offering numerous Milwaukee Braves treasures since our opening auction. This collection of signed baseballs was a lifelong journey by one astute autograph enthusiast.
This collector was unlike most though. While he targeted the big names (Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron and Eddie Mathews) he also targeted the lesser known everyday players who played for the Braves during their tenure in Milwaukee. Many of the men who signed individual baseballs in this massive collection are void in even the most discriminating Braves collection. Others died before getting single signed baseballs became chic in the collecting world. We are pleased to report most signed across the sweet spot and, in many cases, added inscriptions. Most of the balls are in EX condition with signs of everyday wear.
Hurler Jim Britton, who was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves but didn't make his major league debut until after the team had moved to Atlanta, has signed this OML Selig ball along with the inscription "Milwaukee Braves." (R0365)
