This is a 1991-97 Edgar Martinez Louisville Slugger Professional Model Game Used Bat. This bat dates to the 1991-97 period based on the Louisville Slugger centerbrand period and the years in which Martinez played for the Seattle Mariners during the centerbrand period, 1991-97. This bat currently weighs 33 ounces and measures 34 inches in length.
This bat exhibits heavy use with ball marks present on all sides of the barrel. A few ball marks clearly display blue ink transfer marks along the barrel. This bat has Martinez's characteristic handle tape job, an 8" section along the handle, and pine tar job, a 7.5" strip along the end of the handle extending into the middle of the centerbrand. This bat displays an 11" multiple break handle crack, which extends from the bottom of the handle around the back and to the top of the barrel; the entire bat is still intact with no pieces missing from either the handle or barrel.
Martinez has always been a fan favorite in Seattle spending his entire Major League career there from 1987 through 2004. During his career with the Mariners he accumulated 2,247 hits, 309 home runs, while keeping a career batting average of .312. During his career, he made the All-Star Game 7 times, won 5 Silver Slugger Awards, and won a single Roberto Clemente Award in his last season, 2004. Edgar was present for three different eras in Seattle, the Griffey era, the Rodriguez era, and the Ichiro era.
