In 1977, Chicago White Sox all-star slugger Beltin' Bill Melton made the final stop of his respectable 10-year career in Cleveland. As an Indian, Melton posted career low RBI and home run numbers in limited playing time. During which, he stepped to the plate toting this Louisville Slugger bat. Even so, this is one of the last bats Melton ever used.
This 32 ounce, 34 1/2 inch stick features the model number H232 on its barrel. Matching known factory records, the ash instrument exhibits signs of heavy use, including a medium assortment of ball marks, stitch marks, bat rack marks and grain swelling. The handle is uncracked. Melton's number 11 (which he only wore while with the Indians) appear on the knob in black marker.
Grade (MEARS A7.5): 5 points for matching factory records, 3 points for heavy use, 1 for provenance (#11 on knob) with a 1/2 point subtraction for removal of handle tape and a 1 point subtraction for divots.
