Manufactured during the 1977-79 time span, research determined that this Yaz bat was not recorded in Yastrzemski’s personal H&B bat records. The bat is an unrecorded K48 model measuring 36” long and weighing 33 ounces. During this time span, Yaz did order 36” bats weighing 33 ounces, but not recorded with this model.
The game used is described as heavy. Over 8 sets of deep stitch marks and numerous black ball marks can be found above the barrel surface. The handle has a crack with no separation. On the knob is 8 and gamer, both consistent with Yaz gamers.
Based on a complete evaluation of the wood, use, and dimensions, MEARS has issued the opinion that this bat is consistent with the use traits of Carl Yaz, but for reasons unknown, was not recorded in his personal records.
Yaz has also signed the barrel in blue marker.
Final Grade MEARS A8: 5 points for bat being consistent with Yaz length & weight, 3 points for heavy game use, one point for Yaz, gamer on knob, minus one point for handle crack.
