Don was a mainstay starter on the infamous 1969 Cubs and this bat center label and shipping records date this bat to that era. It is a 35"-34oz signature model U1 that has went to war and back. It has the "Yosh" marks on the sweet spot (U1) and has deeply embedded ball and lace marks on every surface. There is a small handle crack that was repaired long ago with some vintage black electrical tape and the bat is coated in pine tar. His uniform number 11 appears on the knob (his number with the Cubbies from 1964-75). The factory stamps are perfect and there is an 8" single layer off the back of barrel. During the era of this bat, Don won the Gold Glove award in 1969-70. It grades a MEARS A9 with 5 base points, 3 use points, 1 point for his number 11 and 1 point for the tell tale Yosh marks on sweet spot less 1 point for the missing back layer.
