Mickey Mantle was one of baseball's All-Time greats and also one of its most popular. One can only imagine the joy expressed when one of his biggest fans received a letter from Mantle to encourage her to get better while at the hospital. Mantle sent a letter on New York Yankee's letterhead to Jeanmarie Leitsch that was dated October 23, 1962. Mantle had mentioned that he heard Jeanmnarie was sick from her mother and wanted to wish her a speedy recovery. Near the end of the letterbefore Mantle's signature, Mantle mentioned that he also sent a Yankees Sketch book and an autographed baseball. This letter includes the original envelope the letter was sent in as well. (57K0194)
