Offered is a professional model Bobby Avila H&B Louisville Slugger dating to 1961-64 label period immediately following the conclusion of his 18 year playing career in MLB & the Liga Mexicana. After retiring Avila became an owner in the Liga, President of the Veracruz Eagles and eventually President of the Mexican League. He then went into politics and was elected Mayor of Veracruz. Two Liga stadiums were later named after Avila - Estadio Beto Avila and Parque Beto Avila. He was elected to the Salon de la Fama in 1971 and was one of the original inductees to the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010. Model K75 stamped on knob while the barrel features a factory "Union" stamping below Avila's signature. Bat currently measures 34", weighs 31 ounces and shows definite use with a glued handle crack running through the center brand. (05G0081, 4494)
