Organized by his first wife, Barbara, with some handwritten notes to Hank throughout regarding his MVP years, traveling, children & well wishes. One of just a few personal items offered to the public! Of course, vintage scrapbooks are filled mainly with newspaper clippings, which consumes the majority of the contents.
Highlights include: 1970 State of Georgia Proclamation; other city & company proclamations, 1956 Look Magazine notification of All-Star choice, original B&W photos of 600thHR and images with other players, Mathews, Spahn, Torre & celebrities, Meadowlark Lemon, Annette Funicello. Congratulatory Western Union telegrams (600th HR & 3,000th hit) from Mrs. Martin Luther King, George Wallace, MLB NL & AL Presidents, Commissioners Bowie Kuhn & Bud Selig, former MLB players and other notables. A very interesting look into Hank’s life through his family. Size: Oversized 18 ½ x 17 ½. Heavy: about 16lbs.
Condition: As usual, vintage scrapbooks are frayed on the edges. Inside is in overall very good condition. Binding of the final third pages are loose. Cover is intact but has become detached.
