For this auction, MEARS Auctions had the honor to handle this very impressive collection of game used Chicago White Sox game used bats. Carefully assembled by a fan of the South Side Hitmen, the majority of the bats in this collection consists of players that played for the pale hose.

For an auction house, some lots create a challenge on how best to offer a collection. Should the bats be sold individually, or kept together as one collection? After careful deliberation and a consultation with the collectors family, a decision was made to keep this collection fully intact.

The value in this lot is the amount of time taken to assemble it, in this case, nearly five decades of commitment went into building this grouping. I would describe this collection of having players that fit the categories of Legends, Modern Stars, Recent Stars, Bit Players, Role Players, HOFers, and House Hold names. A quick skim of names include Ken Berry, Oscar Gamble, Jeff Bouroughs, Smokey Burgess, Carlton Fisk, Frank Thomas, Harold Baines, Bill Almon, JC Martin, Bucky Dent, Wayne Nordhagen, Ed Farmer, Jerry Hairston, George Bell, Kenny Lofton, Robin Venture, Bobby Bonilla, Ruben Sierra, Steve Sax, George Bell, Ron Kittle, Tim Raines, Ozzie Guillen, Jim Thome, Albert Belle, Richie Zisk, Rip Radcliff, Bill Melton, and many more. 300+ bats were collected by this dedicated fan. For game used bat collectors, the majority have nice, heavy use with numbers on knob, pinetar when applicable, and deep stitch marks. Many are autographed. The Willie Mays bat is a store model.
