With his hall of fame career and 534 career home runs behind him, baseball was still in his blood. During the decade of the 1950s when this bat was made, Foxx served as a manager for an All Woman’s Baseball League in 1952 (the Tom Hank character was loosely based off Foxx in the movie, “A League of Their Own”). He also served a batting coach for the University of Miami, a minor league team in Floridian, and a Red Sox affiliate in Minnesota. Although this bat does not appear in Foxx’s personal records, there is a possibility this bat was used by Foxx in his Golden Years in any of the above mentioned coaching stints.
The bat measures 34” and weights 32 ounces. F3, the model number, is factory stamped on the knob. This was a favorite of Foxx during the 1930s. Bat shows heavy game use, with a chip on the barrel end and a vintage, darkening of the handle. MEARS has issued a grade as “authentic” with respects to model, length, weight, and use. (Z0315)
