Offered is a St. Louis Browns cap dating to Denny Galehouse's tenure with the team circa 1946-47. Manufactured by Rawlings, this 8 panel, 8 thread bill was issued as the Browns road cap. This hard to find road cap has grey crown with brown brim. The interlocking “STL” contains embroidery on like grey die cut patch. Cap it topped with matching brown crown button. Inside band is leather, with the appropriate “RAWLING” tag. The interior shows cracking to the leather band and some leather missing near the back with some separation between the satin lining and cap. The brim is fraying at the out tip and some very slight separation. No player I.D. present, but cap was given to Tommy Wittenberg by Galehouse & originally sold in the December 2011 Lelands Auction. The outside of the cap remains in excellent condition. (88Q0125)
