Very rare, highly decorative late 1940s Cleveland Municipal Stadium Flag. The 2016 World Series was magical because it pitted two clubs looking to end a
Championship drought…The 1908 Chicago Cubs and the 1948 Cleveland Indians. This flag flew above Cleveland Municipal Stadium
in the late 1940s. At the conclusion of the 1949 season, Indians owner Bill Veeck held a mock funeral for the 1948 World Champions
and they literally buried the 1948 Championship Banner. This flag was not treated so kindly or reverently as it was thrown into a
dumpster, only to be retrieved by a fan in 1949 and then acquired by the MEARS Museum Collection in 2015. Banner measures 6 ft. 10 in. by 13 ft. 3 in.
