1938 Charlie Keller Newark Bears H&B Louisville Slugger Professional Model Sidewritten Lathe Bat (MEARS LOA & PSA/DNA)

Offered is a professional model Charlie Keller H&B Louisville Slugger lathe bat dating to circa his 1938 season with the Newark Bears of the International League. Bat currently measures 37" and weighs 33.5 ounces with "36 oz Charlie Keller 3.30.38 Newark Intl Lg" sidewritten in heavy grease pencil with some lighter notations also present above. After batting .365 with 22 home runs and 129 RBI for Newark in 1938 the Yankees gave Charlie the call up to the big leagues for 1939 where he batted .334 with 11 home runs and 83 RBI, finishing 22nd in AL MVP balloting for World Series Champions. PSA/DNA hologram/LOA 1B24954 will also attend with a note indicating that Keller ordered this model into May of the 1939 season. (58H0196)
