This is a 1931-32 Randy Moore H&B Louisville Slugger Professional Model Game Used Sidewritten Bat. This bat dates to the 1931-32 period based on the Louisville Slugger centerbrand period, 1931, and the date on which it was returned to Hillerich & Bradsby based on the side writing, August 26, 1932. This pre-model number bat currently weighs 32.9 ounces and measures 35 inches in length.
This bat exhibits heavy use with deeply embedded stitch marks concentrated on top of the barrel. A small 3" handle crack is present along the top of the handle. Numerous cleat marks appear along the barrel of the bat. Side writing appears along the barrel of this bat and clearly reads "34 oz Randy Moore 8-26-32 Boston Nat. L.”
Moore had a 10-year career in the big leagues, playing for four teams, the Chicago White Sox, Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers, and St. Louis Cardinals. Moore had the best years of his career with the Boston Braves having the best season a year after this bat was returned in 1933, when he came 23rd in MVP Voting when he ha 150 hits and batted .302 throughout the season.
