1930-1938 Jimmy Foxx Burke Batrite Professional Model / Pro Stock Bat (MEARS A4.5)
Date: Per the design of the Hanna Batrite centerbrand Bat logo, this style of bat was available to be used during the 1930-38 era.
Length (34”): Bat measures 34” and is consistent with the “4” which is the 34” designation found stamped to the right of the model (76).
Weight (33.5 ounces): Review of Foxx’s H&B records (used for comparison), document Foxx ordered bats weighing 33-37 ounces during the 1930s and this bat falls within that weight range.
Game Use: Bat shows heavy game use with visible deadwood on the reverse of barrel. The handle remains uncracked, with chip on the knob.
Note About Batrite Bats: Unlike H&B professional model bats, the markings on a Hanna Batrite can be ambiguous with respects of retail vs. professional model usage. PSA has evaluated the bat, 1B12264, and deemed the bat as a pro stock / professional model.
This example as stamped on the barrel, “Georgia Driver, TA FOXX 76 4 Steel Temper” is considered to be both a retail and professional model. Similar examples were found in surviving Batrite dealer catalogs
Final Grade (MEARS A4.5): Due the fact this bat was made available as both a professional and retail model, MEARS can grade no higher than a MEARS A5. There was a ½ point deduction for the chipped knob.
