Bat collectors, I have long stated that these lathe bats are the most underrated collectibles in the entire hobby. Think about it, before computers, lathe bats were used in the H&B wood shop to pattern game used bats. Before computers, an actual example of a player's model bat was archived at the factory. When an order for a "gamer" was placed, the woodworker grabbed the lathe bat and a set of calipers and proceeded to create the bat that would be sent to the player.
Measuring 33 1/2" for the usable portion of the bat, the nubs have been removed on this bat. Written in vintage, near mint grease pencil is "Left Hand Model, 39 oz. Ed Roush, New York Nat Lea BC". The majority of these bats have been absorbed into the collection of advanced bat enthusiast. Collection of MEARS Staff.
