This early signature model Babe Herman gamer measures 36" and weighs 33.8 oz. The factory markings are deep and pronounced. The bat has seen a tremendous amount of game use. The knob has a chip on one side, the barrel has numerous cleat marks on the end, there is swelling and deep ball marks on all sides and the back of the barrel has some grain separaton that has been repaired at the time with over a dozen vintage nails but the bat remains uncracked. It grades an A6.5 with 5 base points and 3 use points and a combined -1.5 for the back nails, knob chip and dead wood.
His record of 1930 with the Dodgers of a .393 average, 416 total bases, 241 hits and 143 runs still stands but it his prowess, or lack of, that has permanently endured as his most lovable trait. The most famous incident involving his ability to mess things up was forever referred to as the "Daffiness Boys" from the time three Dodgers, including Herman who hit a triple into a double play, ended up on third base at the same time.
