1921-29 Billy Southworth H&B Professional Model Side Written Game Used Bat

Physical characteristics; Bat is a signature model pre model number from the 1921-30 label period. Bat measures 35”-37.2 oz. Bat was returned to the H&B factory by Frank Crompton on 5-29-29 as evidenced by the Henry Morrow side writing. Bat shows heavy game use with a 7” handle crack and cleat marks about the barrel. Most of the use appears on top of the barrel. Bat grades an A7.5 with 5 base points , 3 use points and -.5 for the handle crack. The finish and factory stamps are perfect. It is considered a two player bat as it was made under contract for Southworth but returned by another player having been used by both or by Crompton. History; Southworth played his last game in July of 1929 for the Cardinals (1926-29) while Crompton was playing in the minor leagues in Scottsdale in 1929. Southworth made the Hall of Fame in 2008 and as such, it is a rare model for either the Cardinal or Hall of Fame collector. LOA MEARS
