If one was to put together a complete catcher’s outfit that was to date to the era of the famous T cards, you have to have a pair of these early reeded shin guards. This pair has the white canvas construction over the reads with a hard material knee cap that is joined to the reeded section by white buckskin. Both guards show wear and I can see no makers mark since it was probably just ink stamped and has long faded but both are complete with all the original straps. These early reeded guards are a must have in any early equipment collection and given the age and use that most have seen, they haven gotten extremely hard to come by any examples in any condition with maybe one or two sets hitting the market every couple of years. We have only owned two pairs in the last five years and this set is way above average as to condition.
