1860's-80's circa Town Ball Flat Barreled Baseball Bat (MEARS LOA)

Offered is a flat barreled town ball baseball bat likely dating to circa the 1860's through 1880's. With the exception of a number 5 stamped on the knob no other manufacturer stampings or markings are visible while the bat measures 32" & weighs 31 ounces with a barrel which is considerably flatter than those which would appear later in the 19th century. Heavy use shown with numerous markings found throughout the barrel area. (85M0692)
