Just how hard did Shane Conlan play for the Buffalo Bills you ask? If this battle scarred game used helmet is any indication, Conlan was a linebacker of the highest order.
Conlan fought plenty of NFL battles in this Bills helmet, circa 1988-90. Numerous gouges and surface scrapes have found their way onto the red exterior. The left Bills decal has bubbled a bit and the the "58" decaled on back has pulled away slightly as has the back of the striping.
A green dot is visible on the inner crown as is an inventory coded sticker. A blue bladder system is comfortably sitting on the inside of the helmet. Each of the facemask clips reads "89". The helmet could have been worn in 1989 or '90 as there is no NFL shield visible. NFL teams adopted the shield in '91.
A transparent warning label rests next to the verso "8". "The inner front cushion has the following written: "88-74".
Overall, a stellar representation from one of the men most responsible in the Bills turnaround of the early '90s.
Employed by the Green Bay Packers from 1984-2000, Scott Waters had on field access for each game, and mingled along the sidelines with the players.
