From Roy Campanella's playing days are these original photos - each about 6" or 7" x 9". Each photo shows moderate surface wear and includes at least one of the following on reverse: production notes, date stamps, caption affixed or names written. A Boston Herald Archives hologram is found on each.
The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
