The chances to collect the autographs from the legendary 1985 Super Bowl champion team were minimal. Sadly the team's signature star, Hall of Famer Walter Payton, died only 13 years after the team's super triumph.
While the team does do signings from time to time, the main man is left off. This Super Bowl XX football was signed by the entire team in the early 1990s in the Chicago area. Payton's unmistakable autograph is captured on the football. In all at least 48 men signed the pigskin in brilliant silver paint pen. The lengthy list includes: Payton, Mike Ditka, Matt Suhey, Mike Richardson, Tom Thayer, Ken Taylor, Jim McMahon, coach Buddy Ryan, Tom Andrews, Steve McMichael, Tyrone Keys, Keith Van Horne, Kevin Butler, Jimbo Covert, Cliff Thrift, Steve Fuller, Mike Tomczak, Shaun Gayle, William Perry, Jim Morrissey, Otis Wilson, Maury Buford, Gary Fencik, Tim Wrightman, Mike Hartenstine, Jay Hilgenberg, Dan Hampton, Ron Rivera, Mike Singletary, Dave Duerson, Keith Ortego, Mark Bortz, Richard Dent, Leslie Frazier, Andy Fredrick, Willie Gault, Denis Gentry, Stan Humphries, Wilber Marshall, Dennis McKinnon, Emory Moorehead, Reggie Phillips, Thomas Sanders, Calvin Thomas, Henry Waechter, Ken Margerum and a few more.
