For a sizable portion of Packers fans, the date December 31, 1967 is a date forever programmed in their minds, beside the birthdays of their children and their wedding anniversary. On that (record-setting) frigid Green Bay day, one of the most memorable football games in history took place.
There, in the -23 degree confines of Lambeau Field, the Packers ultimately prevailed over the Cowboys, thanks to Bart Starr's quarterback sneak into the end zone to ensure a trip to the Super Bowl. Frozen as they were, the fans didn't let the conditions hold them back from tearing down the goal posts.
A .75" long, 4" diameter piece of a post from this unforgettable game is offered. Packers great Ray Nitschke, who took part in the Ice Bowl, has provided his signature in black marker, along with the inclusion of his retired number 66.
The signature is faded and chipped paint is evident. Still, this is a coming together of one of football's greatest players from one of football's greatest games. EX-NM condition. JSA auction letter and letter from owner are included. 01041
