Continuing to combine fashion with on court performance, the Air Jordan 4’s launched with much fanfare in 1989. The eyelets were framed with red, multi holed eyelets, providing extra ankle support that insured Michael would not turn his ankle. The shoe issued in Fire Red was depicted in Spike Lee’s classic, Do the Right Thing, further cementing the brand with American Pop Culture.
Interior of each shoe features a size 13 manufacturer's tag with productions code 890910FT2. Size 13 is verified as being the correct size of shoe worn by Jordan during the season. Other examples that entered the hobby to verify the size include:
1989 Air IV (size 13) Heritage
1989 Air IV (size 13) AMI
1989 Air IV (size 13) MEARS database
Therefore, it is verified that size 13 is correct for Michael Jordan during the era.
Shoes show moderate and appropriate game wear. The soles and leather side panels show game scuffing. A perfect amount of wear is visible, typical of game worn shoes from the era.
Numerous photos (digital image included with this listing) show Jordan wearing the model shoe during games.
Jordan has also signed each shoe in black marker with a full PSA/DNA letter attending to verify the authenticity of each signature, both of which show some noted fading of the signature. (69W0115)
