The 1978 football season was unforgettable for the city of Philadelphia. Few cities mirror their football team like The City of Brotherly Love. The downtrodden Iggles were the laughingstock of the NFL before season play began. Without a draft pick until the third round, coach Dick Vermeil prodded his team all the way to the playoffs.
While Philly wore mesh jerseys during the early stages of the season, they turned to heavy knit jerseys to combat those cold Sundays later on. This jersey was worn by running back Cleveland Franklin. All of the identifiers are heat pressed. Ribbed green/silver/green striping surrounds the shoulders. The nameplate was removed but there are remnants of where it once stood. There is a team repair below the shoulder seam and a few sparse hit scrapes. Light staining appears on front and there are pockets built into the pullover. Sewn in the tail is a "78" year swatch and Russell Athletic size tag.
