Old and new school meet with this interesting jersey. During the 1960s, durene jerseys were the rage among football teams. The cotton and nylon blend were heavy but oh so attractive. Aesthetics would be lost when teams adopted mesh jerseys and now teams don lightweight jerseys.
Ken Ruettgers was a rugged offensive lineman who lasted a dozen years in Titletown before his knees just gave out. This durene jersey was worn by the Packer great between 1985-88 and shows exemplary wear.
Eyelet holes are built into the underarms for a tighter feel. Two minor repairs are found in the shoulder region and numerous hit marks are visible. "RUETTGERS" is applied to a durene nameplate on back.
All of the identifiers are heat pressed and the Packer G's are proudly displayed on the elasticized sleeve ends. We have deduced the vintage to 1985-88, given Ruettger's years of service and the Packers' wearing jerseys with sleeve logos. Sewn in the tail is a Packers Medalist exclusivity tag (half disengaged) and Sand Knit tag with no size indicated.
Overall, the finest Ruettgers durene jersey to reach the auction block.
