Hall of Fame Los Angeles Dodgers hurler Don Drysdale is pictured in this lot on the mound, with his wife & family and with Baltimore Orioles hurler Jerry Walker who opposed him in the 1959 Midsummer's Classic. Measurements range from 6.5" x 8" to 8" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutline and date & photographer stamps on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. (L0410)
The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
