Brooklyn Dodgers batterymates Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe are pictured here in the clubhouse after Newcombe threw his third consecutive shutout during the 1949 season. Measures 6.5" x 8.5". "Roy Campanella & Don Newcombe" handwritten on reverse with affixed cutline and Sep 7 1949 stamp. Boston Herald Archives Hologram. (L0183)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
