Though often forgotten due to their location in the Pacific Time Zone and because of their relative infancy compared to the East Coast-rooted California baseball brethren, the San Diego Padres have a fairly lengthy and impressive history. Proof of this comes in the form of these 250-plus Padres photographs, which chronicles players and memorable occurrences from four decades of the oft-overlooked franchise's deceivingly-rich history.
Just some of the San Diego greats featured in this massive collection include: Tony Gwynn (many), Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield, Rollie Fingers, Willie McCovey, Goose Gossage, manager Don Zimmer, Roberto Alomar, Fred McGriff, Kevin Mitchell, players-turned-managers Bruce Bochey and Cito Gaston, as well as a host of Padres favorites like Phil Plantier, Andy Benes and, of course, little Bip Roberts. The majority of the photographs are glossy, recently developed modern color photos (a rarity) that measure 8" x 10" in size. (A0463)

As part of the production process for the newspaper, images may show production notes, photographer's stamps, date codes, and other markings associated with the production of the Sporting News newspaper. In all cases, each selected image is of superior quality, subject matter, clarity, contrast and condition. Each image was archived by the particular magazine (either "The Sporting News" or "SPORT Magazine") and, despite not including an official Sporting News or SPORT Magazine hologram, is assured its origin and provenance.
