Gone but never forgotten is Walter Payton. It was Payton who led the Bears through the slim decade of the 1970s and early '80s. While not always blessed with much talent around him, Payton was the focal point of the opposition. Although he endured a tremendous amount of punishment, Payton only missed one game during his 13-year career. Payton died at the tender age of 45, which leaves his autograph at a heavy shortage among the masses of fans he accumulated. From a Bears reunion signing in the 1990s is this Payton signature.
Walter Payton occasionally penned his nickname when he signed autographs. You had to catch Sweetness on a good day for such an inscription. Our consignor was lucky enough to secure a white paint pen signature on this Bears jersey and "Sweetness" inscription as well. A full PSA/DNA letter will attend and serve as authentication. The LOA states that the autograph is partially traced/enhanced. This may have been done by Payton as he always tried to accommodate fans with great autographs.
Payton signed the reverse of this size "48" Russell Athletic jersey. All of the identifiers are plasticized and "PAYTON" is expressed to a nameplate on back.
