The Tennessee Titans were born as the Houston Oilers.

This helmet was used in 1987 and possibly a year or two earlier and attributed to Allen Lyday. Deep-seeded gouges are evident on the white plastic shell and there are surface scratches present as well.

Front facemask clips are from 1986-87. Purple, blue and yellow marks penetrate the surface. A transparent warning sticker and Riddell back bumper are featured on reverse.

The inside includes these pertinent identifiers: AF2 gel-filled padding, forehead leather reinforcement, "28" decal (right ear hole) and "28" written (left ear hole).

Gone but never forgotten are the Houston Oilers.

Employed by the Green Bay Packers from 1984-2000, Scott Waters had on field access for each game, and mingled along the sidelines with the players. Several candid photos document his presence on the field. This lot originated directly from the Scott Waters collection. Detailed LOA’s personally signed by Scott Waters will be included with each item from his collection. Letters of authenticity: Scott Waters & MEARS / Troy Kinunen
