Offered are a pair of Rawlings shoulder pads dating to Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton's tenure with the Chicago Bears circa the 1985-86 circa and the Super Bowl Champion season. Pads show extensive wear with Walter's uniform number 34 written in faded marker on the left chest and the side of each shoulder pad. Possible blood stains underneath most likely containing the DNA of Payton. Letter from Scott Ascher - Payton's Business Partner and Curator of the Walter Payton Museum - stating pads were worn by Walter throughout the majority of his NFL career, and a letter from Sports Investors Authentication matching the pads to a 1986 training camp photo of Payton from his Sweetness biography, will also attend. Pads are consistent with the 1985-1986 timeframe. Pads are the hardest of all equipment to find, and this is the first documented example known to MEARS. Imagine the number of defensive players that felt the brunt of the force of Payton running, shoulder down, and HARD. Rare item which will compliment any Chicago Bears or HOF collection. (80D0029)
