Although Dave Cowens did not play in the 1977 NBA All-Star Game, this offered uniform is ultra-rare and one of the most desirable pieces in MEARS' October sale. Unused due to an injury that the famous Celtics big man suffered during the 1977 season, this uniform is complete with both the shorts and jersey. "East", Cowens and "18" (front and verso) have been screened directly on this jersey, but it is the "1977 NBA All Star Game Milwaukee" patch on the left front of the shorts that is the biggest head turner on this stunning pair. The proper "Milwaukee Sand Knit" and "[size] 44 Sand Knit" tags are affixed in the front tail of the jersey, in addition to "1" HR 1/2" L1", "[size 36 Sand Knit" and "Milwaukee Sand Knit" tags in the waste line of the shorts. Cowens signed the verso of the jersey in MINT black felt-tip ink. The 1977 All-Star game was also very significant in that this was Julius Erving's first NBA All-Star Game appearance, and he also was named MVP of the contest. #00096 MEARS Auction LOA AND Autograph MEARS Auction LOA
