There are no year tags on this jersey but the tagging on this jersey corresponds with the MEARS dating of this tag (1972-76, the medal no longer appearing on most 1977 shirts). Getty images dating to 1975 confirms the style (images included). The jersey was manufactured by Sand Knit and has the team exclusive tag. The shirt is tagged a size50 and Marshall appears on a nameplate on back. The jersey exhibits heavy game use with team repairs on the front shoulders and sleeve along with evident wear on the uniform numbers (#70) on back. The mesh shirt is all original as issued with no signs of any restorations.
As for Marshall his career spanned from 1961-1979 as a defensive end, all but one (1960 Cleveland) of which were played in Minnesota. Marshall was a member of the Vikings famed “Purple People Eaters”, one of the most identifiable front fours in NFL history. He was a two time pro bowler, had one of the longest starting records in Vikings history and is credited with over 120 sacks. This is a chance for the Viking collector to get a real game worn jersey from one of the stars of the mid 1970’s.
