No expansion team in pro sports history earned a championship quicker than the Bucks, who captured the 1971 NBA title in just their third season of existence. The 1970-71 Bucks posted a 66-16 regular-season mark under Coach Larry Costello. In the postseason, they beat San Francisco (4-1) and the Los Angeles Lakers (4-1) before sweeping Baltimore in four straight for the title.

To honor the dedication of Milwaukee Journal sports writer Bob Wolf, the Milwaukee Bucks presented him with a 1971 Championship ring. The players and trainer’s ring had a diamond in the center. This ring was believed to have been originally issued with a matching diamond. On April 30th, 2016, MEARS Auctions offered this for sale with a replaced green stone. For this auction, an original diamond was professionally added to restore this ring to its original condition.

In appreciation of his work, the team presented this ring to Bob Wolf commemorating the Milwaukee Bucks 1971 NBA World Championship. Face of ring features a centrally set .59 ct diamond with "NBA World Champions" engraved around the perimeter while the left panel reads "1971" around an NBA logo and the right panel reads "Bob Wolf 20 Straight Milwaukee Bucks" with a team logo. "Balfour 14K" engraved on inside of ring, which measures to approximately size 10. This ring originated from the estate of Bob Wolf. (89R0369). LOA MEARS Auction and recent appraisal by local diamond experts, The Jewerly Center will accompany this lot. (45U0040)
