George Halas was a proud man who is credited with making the NFL what it is today. After winning a title in 1946, the Bears went in a serious title drought through the 1962 season. Had the game he helped bring to the forefront of sports passed by Papa Bear? The 1963 version of the Bears was title worthy as Halas pushed all the right buttons. Jim Cadile anchored the offensive line.
Cadile went to hell in back in this Chicago Bears jersey. Donned by the 11 year NFL vet during the championship season of 1963 and a year later, this jersey was worn until its football life was extinguished.
By our count, there are 23 team repairs on this pullover garment. Repairs are found on both sides and in nearly all spots. All of the numbers are created in two-color tackle twill and have discolored a bit from use, launderings and sun fading.
According to the provided information, "the tall version of the Bears rounded numeral font in midnight navy on orange tackle twill is a feature started in the 1960s, and the placement of the back numerals high up against the major horizontal transverse seam indicated the jersey was made for use without the player's name on back."
Both sleeve ends are 3/4 length. A King O'Shea size "50" tag is revealed in the inner tail. Because of the outstanding use, the jersey has been graded a perfect A10.
