Offered is a nice Colts game worn jersey from the Unitas era. It was manufactured by MacGregor of the typical Dureen material of the era. There is no year code or name on jersey so the dating process was established using the type of manufacturer tag and jersey style. Hence, based on these facts, the shirt can be narrowed down to the 1962-65 seasons. The number 46 appears on the front, back and sleeves of this white road and is a size 46. Welch was 6' and weighed 191 lbs so the size is in the acceptable range and Welch played for the Colts from 1960-67 wearing this uniform number. The jersey shows great game wear with a vintage team repair on the sleeve, wear to all the numbers and some very minor age spotting (no points taken) The shirt grades a perfect MEARS A 10 due to the originality and game wear.
1964 was the best season for the Colts while Welch was a member as they won the Western Division Championship with a 12-2 record and Unitas was the NFL MVP that same season. To conclude, this is just a nice example of a 40 year old Colts common from the Unitas years. MEARS Auction LOA. 00674
