Offered is a Washington Senators road jersey which appears to be a salesman sample from circa 1961. Gerry Cosby, size 44 and "61 J Lemon 3" sewn to tail with a strip reading "J Lemon" sewn in the collar while "Senators", number 3 and a team logo patch are also sewn to the grey flannel jersey. Additional tags with laundry instructions and "60% Wool 40% Nylon" fabric content sewn inside tail. 1961 was a transitional year for the franchise with the original Washington Senators becoming the Minnesota Twins, while a new Washington Senators franchise took over in the Nation's Capital. This jersey style is consistent with that worn by the original Senators in 1960, with the new Senators adopting a different style jersey in 1961. Jim Lemon was also rostered under #23 with the 1960 Senators/1961 Twins with Harmon Killebrew wearing the number 3 found on this example. Light wear. (82G0159)
