Every year since 1949, baseball's top newcomers are honored with the Rookie of the Year award in each league. Some of the winners go on to Hall of Fame careers, many turn into serviceable starters while others fall by the wayside.

Baseball collectors usually flock to the top rookie each year. This also causes a spike in demand for his autograph.

The truest challenge among Rookie of the Year collectors is the signature of Ken Hubbs. The elusive autograph is void in many collections. Hubbs garnered Rookie of the Year status in 1961 for the Cubbies, but was tragically cut down in 1964 in a car accident. His short career has created a severe shortage in his autograph, especially single signed items. Hubbs is featured on team signed baseballs from his abbreviated career but singles are an almost impossible conquest.

Our consignor received this Hubbs signed ONL (Giles) baseball when he was a youngster. This has never seen the light of day until now. Offered is an ONL (Giles) baseball inscribed "To Mitch" on a side panel. The signature is conducted in ballpoint ink. There are a few spots of age induced toning, but the ball is still remarkable. This autograph will afford one lucky to bidder the ability to finally scratch off Ken Hubbs from his single signed baseball wish list.
