Several years ago MEARS President Troy R Kinunen purchased a collection of game used baseballs which were retrieved by Milwaukee Police Officer Wobszal who worked part time as a security guard at Milwaukee County Stadium. The ball originated from Lois Wobszal, daughter of the Police Officer. Mike Roddell, the president of the longest running card show, Wisconsin Sports Collectors Association, purchased the baseballs from Lois and brokered the deal to Troy R Kinunen.

While on duty, Officer Wobszal gathered this game used baseball which was hit off the bat of Mickey Mantle for a Homerun during the 1958 World Series at Milwaukee County Stadium. The ball was retrieved, and a notation was added to the box in Wobszal’s own hand writing.

The box had Wobszal’s hand written notation, “World Series 1958, Game 2, Home Run Mickey Mantle, vs. Yanks, on duty”. Official Warren Giles National League Baseball, heavy use. This might be the only document Mantle World Series HR ball in the hobby.
