Offered is a golfer's luncheon menu dated July 16 1942 which has been signed in the upper right corner by Hall of Fame New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth. Menu appears to have been housed in a scrapbook at some point & subsequently removed with the scrapbook page now serving as a backing. Our consignor, the son of the direct recipient, recalled this father's account of meeting Babe Ruth, "My father worked at the Winged Foot County Club in Mamaroneck, NY. He was a martre d. This was from abut 1930-1945. He met my mother who was the telephone operator at the switchboard. Johnny Weismuller used to swim there and they were friends. My father used to work at other country clubs for special occasions. He was working at the Golf Club when he met Babe Ruth who gave him an autographed menu dated July 16, 1942." (41Q0083)
