1975 Kenner Six Million Dollar Man Lee Majors 13” V1 Action All Original Figure “Rare 1st Version”

Debuting in 1975, the Kenner Six Million Dollar Man Action figure was the top seller of the year and caused shortage on toy shelves, pre-dating the “Sell Out” hysterics that came with other popular toys such as the Cabbage Patch Doll.

This figure is classified as the “V1” version, which is the very first figure produced. During its initial release, the Six Million Dollar man figure was issued with a detachable right arm. The left was permanently attached and is noted by the wide stripe on its shoulder (see image).

Kids, knowing that one of the arms was detachable, constantly tried to detach the left arm, causing an influx of returns to the Kenner. To solve the problem, Kenner updated the toys design and made both arms detachable. The next version is referred to in the hobby as the V1.5 version. Both were issued in 1975 and predated the 2nd generation version with the “Biosonic Arm”.

Due to a quick design change and the countless V1 versions accidently broken by excited children, this original issue is quite hard to find in all original working condition.

In addition to the wide stripe design on the figures actual shoulder, true V1 versions were found with an elastic sleeve cuff. To have a true 1st version, the figure must have both the wide strip non-detachable arm and the proper factory issued elastic sleeve cuffs. This figure has both.

Figure remains in excellent to near mint condition. The body and arms are all original and the face Is near mint with no scuffs to the face or hair. The red two-piece track suit remains vibrant, with a slight pinhead size hole above the left knee. The cloth “Six Million Dollar Man’ chest emblem is 100% and firmly attached. Figure is complete with white sox and original issue red Adidas shoes.

This figure is in working order. The trick to activate the “bionic” right arm is to turn the head to the left. Once activated, the arm lifts ups by pressing the red activator on the back.

A beautiful all original example of this iconic 1975 issue toy. LOA Troy R. Kinunen MEARS Auctions.
