Bobby Milton attended Fort Wayne Central High School where he was the leading scorer and graduated in 1946. From there he played at Anderson College where he teamed with Indiana All Star Jumpin’ Johnny Wilson where the pair became one of the nation’s top scoring combinations. Bobby Milton joined the Harlem Globetrotters in 1949 and played over 8,000 games during his career and appeared in 100 nations.

Offered are a trio of Harlem Globetrotters uniform elements likely dating to circa the 1949-1950s era. Included are a blue durene Wilson size 42 jersey with "Original Harlem Globetrotters" sewn to the front, number 38 sewn to the reverse and a "Milton" player ID tag sewn to the tail. Shorts are red & white satin Wilson trunks with number 53 sewn to the left leg & a "Brown" player ID tag sewn in the waistband. Rounding out the ensemble are a pair of blue knee pads. Moderate to heavy wear shown.

Collection originated in a Minnesota home where the family housed Milton during his Globetrotters touring days due to the fact he wasn't allowed to stay at the "white hotels". Even the beloved Globetrotters experienced racism during their early days. (14P0201)
