During the 1989 season, the Milwaukee Brewers were experiencing an unprecedented problem with the cover loosening up on their baseballs. This baseball along with the Glenn Braggs was retrieved during the game, result of a hit or homerun, and sent to the American League offices for examination. After being returned to the team, the ball was gifted to Bernie Rupp, inspiration for the updated look of team mascot Bernie Brewers and employee. Player who did the damage was unrecorded.
