The Smurfs is an American-Belgian animated fantasy-comedy television series that aired on NBC from 12 September 1981, to 2 December 1989. Produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, it is based on the Belgian comic series by the same name, created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo and aired for 256 episodes.
Phil Ortiz served as an animator during the course of the series run. Phil Ortiz also worked for Hanna Barbera and Ruby Spears Productions on such cartoons such as Godzilla, Richie Rich, Hong Kong Phoey, Dukes of Hazzard, The Fonz, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and the Flintstones.
On September 23rd, 2017, the professional staff of MEARS met with Phil Ortiz at the Madison Wizard World Comic Con for a private signing. Phil Ortiz signed this limited edition blue pencil, ink, with color background full color high gloss archival paper stock print in near mint blue sharpie marker.
Print has been authenticated by the professional staff of JSA autograph authenticators and their official company hologram and matching certificate of authenticity card accompanying this piece. Their unique hologram number is maintained at the JSA website which validates the items authenticity.
