Roots is an American television miniseries based on Alex Haley's 1976 novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family. The series first aired on ABC-TV in January 1977. The series introduced LeVar Burton in the role of Kunta Kinte.
On September 16th, 2017, the professional staff of MEARS met with LeVar Burton for a private signing at the Star Trek: Continuing Voyage Convention in Chicago, IL.
LaVar Burton signed this limited edition 16x20 B&W high gloss archival paper stock photo in near mint blue sharpie. This high resolution image depicts a young Kunta Kinte, sitting, and looking up, unsure of his impending fate. A poignant image of Burton chained with both a neck and wrist restraints reminds the viewer of the horror of slavery.
Photo has been authenticated by the professional staff of JSA autograph authenticators and their official company hologram and matching certificate of authenticity card accompanying this piece. Their unique hologram number is maintained at the JSA website which validates the items authenticity.
